Glen Johnson surprised at the signing of Ziyech

Former Chelsea star Glen Johnson admits he is surprised his old side have been able to sign Hakim Ziyech for a cut-price fee.

Frank Lampard was left frustrated after Chelsea were unable to strengthen their squad in January, but plans for a summer rebuild are already well underway.

Ziyech, who starred when Ajax drew 4-4 at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, will move to west London at the end of the current campaign for an initial fee believed to be in the region of £37.8million.

Manchester United recently signed Bruno Fernandes for £46.6m, a player of similar experience, and Johnson, who made 41 appearances for Chelsea, believes the Blues are getting a great deal.

He told talkSPORT: ‘I think he’ll be a great signing and from the prices that are knocking around these days that could turn out to be cheap.
