Terry practiced “panenkas” before slipping in CL final

Blues Legend John Terry says he had been practicing “panenka” penalties weeks before Chelsea’s champions league final against Manchester United in 2008 before slipping during the penalty shootout.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Frank Lampard were the scorers that day as the tie went into penalty shootouts.

"On the build-up to finals you take penalties, and you go through the routines, and you do the walk from the halfway line,"

Terry explained during an interview with beIN Sports. "We'd been doing that for two weeks at the training ground, and I'd been dinking them down the middle like the panenka!"
