Lampard: “We should have killed the game off”

Chelsea won a five-goal thriller on Tuesday night at Selhurst Park.

Frank Lampard has said that Tammy Abraham’s goal will do a lot of good for his confidence as he was desperate to get on the scoresheet in recent games.

Abraham has not scored in ten games prior to tonight’s game last finding the back of the net in January 11 but Lampard was delighted to finally see him back among the goals.

"It will be really important for Tammy because he is desperate for goals,"

"He hadn't scored for a while. It helps his confidence and it is good for me. It gives me other options.

"He came on late in the game, he scores the winning goal and I'm pleased for my strikers."

When asked about the game, the 42-year old said his side should have managed the game better and should have even killed it off.

"We should have had the game done at 2-0,"

"We should have controlled the game better and then at 3-2 we had good chances to finish off.

"With some slight wrong decisions maybe in the final third or final shot, and then it invites pressure.

"Kepa makes a great save, Kurt makes a great tackle. But in those last moments it was nervous for us."
