Giroud: Werner not in same profile as me

Olivier Giroud still believes he still has much more to offer Frank Lampard and Chelsea as the new premier league season kicks off next weekend.

The Frenchman signed an extension to his contract until next summer after nailing a starting berth in the 2019/2020 season restart in June.

The Signing of Timo Werner from RB Liepzig looks to have brought competition back to the hands of Giroud but the 33-year-old is unfazed and believes he is a different player to Werner.

"I haven't spoken to Lampard. One thing is certain: the competition [in the squad] will pull us all to the top. A great club should have different options in each position,"

"We want to be in the race for the title and I'm here. I finished the season well and I proved to the manager that he can count on me.

"Werner is not the same profile as me, I hope to have some playing time."
