Mount’s missed spotkick sends Tottenham through
TOTTENHAM 1-1 CHELSEA (5-4 on pens)
Chelsea faced spurs on Tuesday night in the fourth round of the Carabao cup after the Lilywhites were awarded winners of the third round clash against Leyton Orient which could not be played.
Edouard Mendy made his Chelsea debut while Chilwell made his first Chelsea start tonight as Azpilicueta captained the side.
Timo Werner’s first chelsea goal in the firsthalf was not enough as Tottenham rallied back to force the game into penalties courtesy of a strike from Erik Lamela.
Tottenham Hotspur converted all of their five spotkicks with Harry Kane taking the last one but it was Mason Mount’s who missed chelsea’s fifth spotkick which ultimately sent spurs through to the next round.
Chelsea are back in action on next Saturday at home to Crystal Palace while Tottenham battle Manchester United at Old trafford.
